Homemade Moisturizer for your FACE! #Recipe

Y'all I can't begin to tell you how many different recipes I tried and tweaked before perfection happened.

SO much goes into creating a good moisturizer.

The quality of the ingredients you choose is key.

I've actually sold this moisturizer to quite a few people, including a couple estheticians that wanted to have their own organically labeled line. I absolutely love it and have been using it myself for quite awhile.

I like to make this moisturizer with zinc oxide in it for UV protection from the sun. You can easily leave this ingredient out if you wish!

If you'd like a rundown on why I've chosen these specific ingredients check out my blog post Natural Remedies for your SKIN which breaks down the pros and cons of each ingredient.

Ingredients:

Organic Jojoba Oil

Deodorized Organic Cocoa Butter (you may use un-deodorized- but it WILL smell like chocolate!)

Organic Beeswax Pellets

Vitamin E

Organic Carrot Seed Oil

Aloe Vera Gel

Pharmaceutical Grade Non-Nano Zinc Oxide

Lavender Essential Oil

Tea Tree Essential Oil

Frankincense Essential Oil

In a double boiler ( I like to use a glass Pyrex measuring cup in a pot of boiling water) combine:

7 tbs Jojoba Oil

4 tbs Cocoa Butter

1 tbs Beeswax

Keep on heat until thoroughly melted and then remove from heat.

Add:

1/2 tsp Vitamin E

1/2 tsp Carrot Seed Oil

1 tbs Aloe Vera Gel

Mix well, and store in fridge for 1 hour.

Add:

1 tbs Zinc Oxide Powder (make sure not to inhale zinc powder when adding)

5 drops Lavender EO

5 drops Tea Tree EO

5 drops Frankincense EO

Whip for 5 minutes until peaks form (I just use a handheld mixer for this).

Place back in fridge for 15-20 minutes.

Store in an amber glass jar.

Makes approximately 6 oz.

A few notes:

Due to the ingredients in this recipe, it can become liquid in warm climates. If you live in the tropics this should do fine indoors, but may not fair so well outdoors. If you create it at home and keep it out of the sun you should do just fine. If you intend to ship it and it sits out in the sun, you may have to stick it in the fridge until it firms back up.

This is particularly good for dry skin, winter parched skin, and mature skin types. I have heard many times that this feels slightly greasy when first applied, but it absorbs VERY quickly, and does NOT clog your pores.

A little goes a long way!
