OUCH! 12 Essential Oil Recipes for PAIN!

If you're reading this, I'm sure you already know allll about the side effects associated with various traditional western medications, so we aren't even going there!
The real, burning, question is; can you successfully manage pain using essential oils?
The answer is a resounding yes!
Check out some of my favorite recipes for holistic pain relief below.

Pain Roller
This is my go-to for any kind of discomfort related to working out, strained or sore muscles, neck, shoulder, and back pain, bum knees etc!
I roll it directly over the area I need it, as often as necessary.
Please note that this recipe contains oils that shouldn't be used on young children.
In a 10ml roller bottle
5 drops Panaway
5 drops Wintergreen
10 drops Peppermint
10 drops Copaiba
15 drops Lemongrass
Fill with carrier oil
Migraine Roller
Apply this roller to the temples (but not too close to your eyes!), and down the sides and back of your neck where tension builds.
This recipe contains oils that shouldn't be used on young children.
In a 10ml roller bottle
6 drops Basil
6 drops Marjoram
6 drops Peppermint
10 drops Lavender
6 drops Copaiba
6 drops Wintergreen
5 drops Helichrysum
5 drops Vetiver
Fill with carrier oil
Other things to try:
* Detox bath
1 cup Epsom Salts
1/4 cup baking soda
5 drops Lemon Essential Oil
Mix dry ingredients together and sprinkle under running bath water
Stay in bath for a minimum of 15 minutes. Longer if possible.
* Drop of Peppermint Essential Oil on your temples
* 3 drops of Lemon Essential Oil in a large glass of water (be careful to use a glass or stainless steel cup for this). Drink entire glass as quickly as possible.
* Long, deep breaths from an open bottle of Basil Essential Oil, or try M-grain- a premixed blend of essential oils formulated for migraines.
Sciatica or Pinched Nerves
Lemongrass Essential Oil diluted (make sure to dilute as Lemongrass is a hot oil), on hip, down leg and on vita flex point on foot. (Vita Flex point chart at the bottom of this blog)
Alternatively you can try: 2 drops each of Panaway, Peppermint & Copaiba diluted, on hip, down leg and on vita flex point on foot.
Carpel Tunnel
Lemongrass Essential Oil neat on wrists.
Please note that Lemongrass is a hot oil.
For most people it will burn or cause some irritation of the skin.
Have carrier oil handy to add to your wrists to dilute if it's unbearable.
Do not use water as oils and water don't mix.
Always dilute Lemongrass Essential Oil on children.
Tooth Pain
Apply a drop of Clove Essential Oil to a Q-tip and apply directly to the area as needed.
Clove is a hot oil and may burn slightly.
For children, please dilute.
Arthritis Roller
Apply this as needed directly on the affected area.
Not suitable for young children.
In a 10ml roller bottle
15 drops Lavender
10 drops Marjoram
5 drops Rosemary
10 drops Eucalyptus Radiata
10 drops Peppermint
Fill with carrier oil
Cramp Roller
This is for use with menstrual cramps.
Apply directly over your ovaries, lower back and on the reproductive vita flex points on your ankle.
In a 10ml roller bottle
30 drops Dragon Time Essential Oil Blend
Fill with carrier oil
Morphine Bomb
This is one of my favorite alternatives for managing pain and inflammation.
This utilizes the French method of aromatherapy of ingestion.
Please only use therapeutic grade oils that have been FDA approved GRAS for this.
Not all oils are created equal.
Not suitable for young children.
If you are not accustomed to ingesting oils, consider beginning with 3 drops each and working your way up to 5.
May be taken up to 4 x a day.
May cause upset stomach for some people. If this is the case for you, take it with a meal.
In a 00 veggie capsule
5 drops Copaiba
5 drops Idaho Balsam Fir
5 drops Frankincense
Follow with a large glass of water
Another alternative which works just as well:
In a 00 veggie capsule
5 drops Copaiba
5 drops Peppermint
5 drops Marjoram
5 drops Frankincense
5 drops Lemongrass
For pain associated with small cell lung cancer and COPD
Apply to back and chest over the lungs.
In a 10ml roller bottle
25 drops Wintergreen Essential Oil
15 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
Fill with carrier oil
Digestive Woes Roller
For upset stomach, diarrhea, constipation and heartburn. Apply over the affected area as needed.
In a 10ml roller bottle
30 drops DiGize Essential Oil Blend
10 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
Fill with carrier oil
TMJ or Jaw Pain
Lemongrass Essential Oil diluted in a 1:1 ratio and applied along the jaw.
For sensitive skin, dilute further.
Alternatively you may apply Valor Essential oil Blend along the jawline every night before bed and during the day as needed.
Pain and Inflammation Cream
Apply as needed directly to affected area.
Depending on your climate you may wish to keep this refrigerated so that it remains solid and applies as a cream.
5 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
5 drops Valor Essential Oil Blend
5 drops Lemongrass Essential Oil
5 drops Frankincense Essential Oil
5 drops PanAway Essential Oil Blend
5 drops Copaiba Essential Oil
3 tablespoons Virgin Unrefined Coconut Oil
Whip and store in a jar.
Makes approximately 2 oz.
