Tired Mama's Homemade Eye Cream- A quick & effective how-to!

Updated: Jan 6, 2020

What is literally the FIRST thing that tells the world how tired you are?

Yup, those dark, tired, puffy, circled eyes.

The same eyes that are SUPPOSED to be the window to your soul, lol. #tiredmama

Mama's, I know, and you know, that most eye creams out there that claim to work miracles- rarely do.

And lets be honest, they cost a fortune. Just for you to realize that they don't work that well.

PLUS they're full of terrible ingredients that are absorbed through your skin's dermis and end up in your body. #yuck

I researched long and hard and experimented plenty before figuring out this recipe and I'm going to share it with all of you!

What I love about it:

It WORKS. My skin is tighter and looks more youthful. It combats the dark circles and the puffiness.

It goes on as a super light cream that absorbs quickly. It's not thick, or heavy feeling AT ALL.

It's incredibly easy to make, even if you've never made anything in your life, haha.

It has a SUPER long shelf life, and a small amount of product will last you a VERY long time. #adabwilldoya

It smells heavenly! #prioritiesladies

Without further ado- here's my favorite

DIY Eye Cream Recipe!

6 drops Lavender EO

6 drops Frankincense EO

6 drops Geranium EO

6 drops Cypress EO

3 drops Lemongrass EO

Whisk and store in a glass jar.

Makes 2.5 ounces.

WHY did I ultimately decide to go with these ingredients, and where can you get the same ones to obtain the same results?!?

Check out the breakdown below!

Aloe Vera: Helps with sunburn, has anti-inflammatory properties, reduces the appearance of wrinkles and scarring, fights aging and helps with a variety of skin problems.

45,000 IU Vitamin E Oil: Antioxidant, helps correct damage caused by free radicals such as air pollution and the sun's UV rays.

Organic Carrot Seed Oil: Rich in Carotene & Vitamin A, it's also a powerful antioxidant and antiseptic.

Lavender Essential Oil: Soothing to the skin and helpful in speeding the healing process of minor scratches, cuts and burns. You can purchase all of the essential oils in this recipe here.

Frankincense Essential Oil: Has antiseptic and astringent properties which help reduce the appearance of large pores, prevent wrinkles, tighten skin to slow the signs of aging, reduce dark spots and speeds up skin's natural healing process.

Geranium Essential Oil: Reduces inflammation and puffiness around the eyes, has antiseptic and wound healing properties, improves circulation, and is a natural astringent, tightening the skin and slowing the signs of aging.

Cypress Essential Oil: Possesses antimicrobial properties, stimulates blood flow, reduces inflammation and decreases fluid retention all of which helps to eliminate puffiness around the eyes.

Lemongrass Essential Oil: Has anti-inflammatory and vaso-dilator properties. It helps reduce fluid retention and puffiness around the eyes. Some people may opt to skip Lemongrass, or reduce the amount down to 1 drop. It can cause a tingling sensation which usually dissipates within a minute or two. I love how much brighter and healthier the skin around my eyes looks with it though so I opt to keep it in!
